I actually found it hard to believe the words credited to Bola Ahmed Tinubu – the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress for the 2023 General elections where Jagaban was quoted to have said that the name of the Deputy Governor candidate of the the People’s Democratic Party for the Lagos gubernatorial elections also for next year – Funke Akindele popularly known as Jenifa should not even be mentioned in his presence and that he even considered it an insult even adding a proverb that the hen wants to enter the house and is bending down when it’s not even tall. Lol, I want to laugh but it’s not funny.

And Tinubu even said this in response to the chants of his supporters who sang – “Who is Funke Akindele where Jagaban is, she is an ant” and the song wasn’t even sufficient for his ego, he had to rub it in.

Na wa o, especially when you consider that this is coming from somebody who already declared his feeling of entitlement to Aso rock,’Emilokan’ as he is now fondly called finished any small pride that ‘the ant’ would have savoured from being an ant or shouldn’t that have been enough for his ego?

Well, ‘Jenifa’ I am sure your name brings joy to many hearers whether it’s Funke Akindele or Jenifa your exploits on the screen from ‘I need to know’ to ‘Jenifa’s Diaries’ ensures your name is sweet to hear and the President of Ukraine – Volodymyr Zelensky is a reminder that the names of comedians could even be sweeter to hear in Politics and governance. So if anyone finds the mention of your name unpalatable it’s certainly not your fault that person can help himself with ear plugs I guess, even in those days respect was reciprocal.

Then on her new title as ‘Ant’ all those Jagaban fans should remember that it’s still the ant that will eat up the remains of any strong man eventually and it’s even the ant the book of Proverbs admonishes us to go and learn from. Who knows? Maybe next year the Jagabans and their followers will have one or two lessons to learn from ’the Ant’, till then.
