Finally the African Giant is twice as tall

Our people say Naija no dey carry last yet until recently we have not really been coming tops in some things, take music back in late last century our best – the likes of Ras Kimono, Mike Okri, et al didn’t really enjoy so much global recognition like the Grammys which has been on since 1959 till date.

The glitz and glamour of the Grammys and various award like it are always very alluring. while there are still plenty popular, creative and super talented artists that have never won the Grammy. it is the dream of most music artist to win at least a Grammy. The thirst to win a Grammy would make you start to wonder if there’s a monetary price attached to winning it. However, what they do get is a whole lot of recognition, bragging right and they will forever be tagged as ‘A Grammy Winner’.

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards is an historic one for Nigeria and also a big win for Africa as one of Africa’s finest and talented artist Burna Boy (Damini Ebunoluwa ogulu) landed himself a Grammy for the album ‘Twice As Tall’. This was a second time nomination and a win for the singer from 2020 where he lost to Angelique kidjo till 2021 as he paint his name on the canvas of history.

Another Nigeria superstar wizkid was also recognised for his collaboration with singer Beyoncé on Brown Skin Girl which also won the Best music Video award. This is a strong signal that Nigeria music is gaining recognition globally. Winning the Grammy is a big win for Africa Music and Burna Boys win has definitely inspire more African art to work on creating more unique sound (like Nigeria Afro Beats) which will enable them to secure a bigger spot for the Grammys and hopefully becomes a winner too. In the world of Afro beat singer ‘No matter where you are, No matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it.
